Towards the end of 2016 I was approached by Simon Howes, a former National Champion and experienced Directeur Sportif about a project he was working on with Writtle College to run a development cycling team for them alongside a women’s team. He had the infrastructure in place and was finalising sponsorship which gave us, Twenty3c, an opportunity to provide the team with bikes. This opportunity meant we could give something back to the sport that gives us our market. After numerous meetings we were really pleased when the team decided to work with us and meant we could provide the team with the new Bianchi Oltre XR4. This bike hasn’t been out long but has already won many awards and hopefully many races with Team OnForm. Time will tell!
I had the pleasure of building the team bikes when they arrived. The riders all spec’d the bikes themselves, some went with Shimano Ultegra and a couple went with Campagnolo Chorus. The bike here is Amy Hills, 2013 Junior World Team Pursuit Champion. It was a privilege to build her bike for the 2017 season.
What does Amy ride?
- Frame: Bianchi XR4 57cm with Countervail
- Groupset: Campagnolo Chorus, 36/52 with and 11-29 cassette
- Borg 50 Carbon Tubeless Wheels
- TEC alloy handlebars & stem
- Elite Race bottle cages
- Lizard Skin DSP 2.5
A few hours in the workshop and the bike was ready to go. There’s nothing quite like building a true Italian machine, and even better knowing this one will win some races. If only I was a betting (wo)man!
I’ve got a few more bikes to build over the next few weeks. I’ll keep you posted, the TT bikes will be interesting, they are serious machines…
Over and out. Ceri
